I read a quote from Paul Louise Cole – “what you allow to define you determines your destiny!”
I’m so all over this in my “faith” walk with Jesus!
You “internally” is what God is focused mostly on – what drives you or holds you back from the inside determines your trajectory towards your destiny – good stuff or bad stuff, good destiny or bad!
Some can wear their pain, or hurts, or trauma, or struggle, or neglect, or abandonment, or fear, at most, like some kind of badge of honor, or at least carry it saying “well this is who I am!” Which translated can say “this is what makes me who I am.” Like we have some kind of quirky affection for our damage or restriction – we may even give it a medical term as if that name was higher than the Throne of God! I am not saying we shouldn’t love ourselves right where we are in God, in life, on our journey – however I am saying, lets get free of the things that hold us back that have a grip on us and hi-jack our incredible destiny taking it to a destiny that is molded by restrictions and restraints.
To be honest, hell and/or this world we live in doesn’t really care – but God does!
Hell and/or this world doesn’t care if you get stalled in the waters of your life, adrift, becalmed, without direction or passion or faith!
But God does!
The Apostle Paul said something quite extraordinary to the church at Corinth
2 Corinthians 6:12 (NKJV)
You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.
Wow! Restricted from what? Their (our) goals, our walk with God, our full and uncluttered, unhindered destiny!
Paul goes on to list a few of their affections, according to what he knew of their lives. Well, we can do a wee exercise ourselves – we can get in a place of quiet with God, and take a look at ourselves in His Presence. You and God together can get some stuff sorted! Look, most Christians at this stage would be yelling the words “it’s sin, it’s sin!” – that may not necessarily be true – but go for it.
Whatever you have let define you will determine your destiny! Thanks Paul and thanks Paul Louise Cole!
God is amazing!
