Meet God?

We can, we should!

The difference between attending church and doing church are these questions, “are we in God’s Presence – have we approached Him – has He approached us?”

I don’t want church any other way – how about you?

I want what He wants?

I read a tweet last week – I think it was from Pastor Brian Houston in Sydney – “If it matters to God, I want it to matter to me!”

What a great “heart” position to place ourselves in.

I want to be moved by what moves God.

We can be so jaded in this crazy world, with 180 degree opinions flying all over the place and people getting very septic towards one another – but lets stop, get with God, re position, get His view, His heart and move from there.

I want what He wants!

Liar, Lunatic or Lord!

Easter is on us!  And as a believer I am again hoping that dozens of my friends, my (all- over-the-planet) family and my city will flock into church and get “it” – what is it?

Hmmmm, good question.  Well . . . maybe we can start with C. S. Lewis, he’s always good to start with – as he studied the Bible he had a deep and very intelligent determination to find conclusively that Jesus was a fraud, the Bible was fiction and all Christians had their heads in the sand.

He surmised, somewhere along his journey, that he had to determine one of three positions for this “saviour” person.  Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord.  While he had his head in the Bible chasing the truth about all “this” Christianity and it’s founder, something happened . . . he got “it!”

“It” arrived in his life – unimaginably “it” landed in and on C. S. Lewis the scholar, the cerebral genius!

How does “it” arrive – how did “it” arrive on C. S.?

Check this out – it’s amazing!

Jesus asked Peter “who am I?”  Peter responded “the Son of God, the anointed one, the messiah!”  Jesus then asked “who told you this?

Matthew 16:17(NIV)

¹⁷ Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

C. S. had “it” all revealed to him directly from heaven, from God Himself.  All he had to do was position himself!

Seeds Planted By Our Lips?

Here’s something that I am more and more aware of in our culture and in my own life.

Proverbs 18:20 (NIV)

²⁰ From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled;
    with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.

     

It’s that we plant God has thrown a principle into life that we need to be more aware of all the time – that what we speak creates a harvest that we walk into further down the track of life.  Seeds (words of judgment, words that belittle ourselves and others or highlight negative or dark moments and more!) get planted and eventually grow into a living tree that bears fruit as a harvest in our life.

So the question would be: have we planted great seeds or seeds that might bear a harvest we’re not really wanting to get used to their fruit.

I want to be satisfied with a stomach (life) filled with awesomeness – just how God has planned it for me.

So what seeds are we planting with our mouths?

Seeds of grace, love, encouragement, compassion, to name just a few, would be a great start right?

Come Boldly Before God

Pastor Paul Cole tweeted one of my personal favorite scriptures during the week – Ephesians 3:12 – his paraphrase inspired me to remind us all to do just that!

“Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” Eph 3

Do what?  Come boldly!

Where? Into His Presence!     

Our humanness and hell wants to keep us out of God’s Presence.  Questions or statements flood our minds – like “I’m unclean, I’m a sinner, I’m not worthy – maybe next week I’ll be cleaner, and better positioned to come before the Lord!”

Hell is determined to have us floating alone out there in our faith and separated form the Holy Spirit – it makes for easy pickens!!!  For Hell that is.

Part of God’s total Jesus plan and package for everyone was to make access into God’s Presence totally available – we don’t need no backstage pass!  Jesus not only paid the totall price for our sin, but also made being in God’s Presence an actuality!  It’s no longer just the High Priest that has the job for entire nation – we all can, boldly and confidently – enter in!

Why is it important?

Because anything and everything happens in God’s Presence – scripture says in His Presence if the FULLNESS of Joy!  In Revelation it’s says “come in here and I will show you what must take place after this” – that means you get a glimpse of what’s possible in your life merged with God’s plan for the planet!

It’s all huge, it’s direction, it’s inspiration, it’s empowering – it’s HUGE!!!

So go for it – every opportunity that arises Come Boldly before the throne of Grace and Power!

Steps – making any?

This scripture has come up time and time again over the last few weeks (at True NORTH Church Frisco) – I’m preaching on Pro Vision!  Meaning being totally pro (for) the vision good has for your life.  It’s amazing!

 

Psalms 37:23 NKJV   

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord , And He delights in his way.

Ok, I sincerely believe God is far more able to use someone (a believer) who’s a little wild than someone that’s pious and stuck to their Church pew!

Why do I believe that?

Easy!  The pious / religious person is stuck to the pew, assuming the best “holy look” they can muster.  They’re not making any steps!

The slightly wild person is already making steps, some probably not so good, some probably good – but all God has to do is “order / steer / inspire” those steps and greatness happens and the slightly wild guy / girl is ecstatic about life and their God!

God is amazing!

Blow Me Away!

OK, a very quick “Quick Thought” today from my desk!

There are two ways we can read the Word of God / /the Bible.

1. Logos: or . . . the black and the white of words on printed paper or your device screen.
2. Rhema: which is the Logos enhanced by the Presence of the Holy Spirit.  It’s where the words come alive on the page and “quickened” in your Spirit.

Try this today, or next time you crack open the Bible.  Don’t go to your regular “go-to” scriptures, say to The Lord “i want you to blow me away today in this time with you, I surrender to your “now” for my life!”

Watch what happens – God has something huge for your day and your tomorrow – it’s your journey, your life unfolding in Him!

 

2 Corinthians 3:6b (NIV)

not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

 

None of us should miss this at all – so “God, Blow Us Away!”

AMEN!

Fussy!

I heard a preacher say this recently – I know it’s a sweeping generalization, but . . . it made me think!

“We tend to be more fussy about what we eat than feeding our spirit well!”

Feed our spirit?  You know, truth, the word, good theology, worship, church!

They weren’t the preacher’s exact words, he was a tad more blunt than that!

But he was right (OK – there are superheroes amongst us, but generally we can all swing that ratio in a better direction, if you know what I mean!

The old saying is “you are what you eat” right!  So, based upon that premise, if we want to do life really well, really focused, knowing who we are, what our life has built into it from heaven, and clearly know where we’re going, we need to eat more truth right!

God says His word is alive and active – it takes out the trash!

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)

¹² For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

 

No trash equals clear thinking and powerful living – you find yourself dreaming and being Pro Vision – pro the vision He has encoded in your being!

I want ALIVE, I want ACTIVE, I want all that!!!

Perspective!

When you’re in a discussion where opinions differ and you hear someone say, “well from my perspective” or “well from where I am standing” and they go on to describe what they “see”, we are discovering that we all have lenses over our eyes that influence or skew what we’re seeing and how we’re “feeling it.”

There’s that old saying “their perspective is their reality” which can also be turned 180 degrees into “my perspective is my reality.”

Just because we’re seeing our particular way, it doesn’t make it “the truth!”

Whatever the reasons for the lenses being there over our “sight” in life – be it hurt, fear, trauma, betrayal, fear, accused, shame, take-no-prisoners ambition, abandoned, sickness, (did I say fear) or any family, national, regional, spiritual “culture” we may be wearing, God’s counsel is this . . .

Revelation 3:18 (NIV)

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

 

There is so much in this scripture!  But at the end of it all, the clearer we can see and the more we can see like God the more remarkable our life will be.  Faith can rise, miracles can land, love and tolerance can flow and the Kingdom of God will expand through our lives and fingertips!

Life with God

The shortest Glenn Feehan BLOG ever!

Life with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit present!) will always present a new challenge.

If you take it on, and you allow the challenge to change you, your life will shift into greater freedom and powerhouse purpose – and – your elevated life will shift other people’s lives into incredible freedom and greatness with an ease you never dreamed of!

If you don’t allow the challenge to change you, you will remain under the pressure of the challenge.

That’s when the coach often says “take another lap!”
