Alternative Realities – Life sad or glad?

Why are we, as a culture, always searching for the alternative reality hits or rushes or highs or even life?

Are our lives really that bad, that hard, that sad?

I know of people that spend vast amounts of time alone playing video games – one guy couldn’t go to work (yeah a grown man) without spending a few hours, controller in hand staring at a screen, playing a game!  He was a mortgage broker at the time – in the biggest realty bubble ever in the USA – meaning the biggest opportunity to crank income, provide for his family, and not waste any time anywhere in his life.  He was also in debt from a failed sad - life glad

And then there are the others that choose a synthetic high and take pills or drugs of some sort and simply don’t care that their lives are incrementally sinking into despair and destruction.

And then there’s the alternative sexual road that millions have chosen – hoping that “maybe I was meant to be the other gender” – and once I’m over there living I might be happy or begin to feel centered with a bit of joy.

Maybe we should add the technology alternate realities that are being created and hoping to thrust tech companies into the ever-so-short, hard to maintain limelight on Wall Street or the Stock Exchange in their country of origin.

I have the feeling that these and dozens of other alternative lifestyles that are being proffered as options to us all are being welcomed, investigated or tried out by mankind because we’ve lost our way and we feel hugely alone . . . Why?

Because we’ve allowed God to drop off our radars.  The “Great Disconnect” – and while there are dozens of IBOs (identifiable bright objects) and UBOs (unidentified bright objects) zooming around on life’s  radar without God in our lives, I believe we can spend a whole lifetime trying things and coming up largely unfulfilled.

Religion has painted God as the big-always-angry dude in the sky to-be-avoided-at-all-costs.  And religious people have harshly stood in the way of genuine seekers – demanding compliance to stuff Jesus paid for, wiped off God’s agenda and set us free from.  Why don’t we hear that from the Church, like ALL the time!

Just pick up a Bible and read about His Son, why He came – then even check out some of the old Testament, you’ll see Jesus there too – yeah really!

God’s plan has always been to get His kids into a fantastic spot, to bless them, to get them clarity of vision for life, to make sure they’re strong, quick and free of burdens and sorrow – to make them/us smile and laugh – even in times of great adversity.

Now that God has become the great alternative – give Him a shot – He’s right there, or He will be when you call or whisper . . .

God is amazing!
