Fire – a new culture?

Inspired by a recent blog by Pastor Phil Pringle – “when we surrender our lives, that is when the fire falls”

It seems like a weird dichotomy  that the greatest way to a powerful life is to surrender.  We naturally squirm at the thought.  No no no, this can’t be true!

But . . . when we’ve bought into the whole Jesus, “Lord of our lives” thing – this is now how it (life) goes – or is meant to.

~        Fire - a new culture

At True NORTH Church, we’re currently praying to essentially wake the dead – you know, call alive the people of God into the places He has assigned them/us to be in our lives and culture.  Strong, influential, noble people that carry the fire of God to bring healing and annihilate darkness wherever they’re (we’re) planted.

This surrender is key. In every way thinkable.

You know the Word says, creation groans in it’s waiting . . . for the children of God to be revealed!

Romans 8:19 (NKJV)

For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

Who are these “children of God?”  Well scripture says this . . .

Romans 8:14 (NKJV)

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Hmmmm, so . . . we need to be led by The Holy Spirit – but until we know the Holy Spirit, we can’t surrender our entire will to Him – and if we completely ignore Him as some archaic concept that doesn’t appear in anyone’s lives these days  – or He’s some floating big blob of light that no-one can really understand – this “fire” will never happen in our lives.  And creation keeps waiting – all the while gaining momentum in it’s headlong nosedive into a dark, diminishing, all consuming vortex of it’s own making.

John the Baptist said this about Jesus . . .

Matthew 3:11 B (NKJV)

. . . He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

And to me . . . whatever Jesus has for us . . . I want it, and I want it all!

It seems that so many of God’s kids don’t even know there is “fire” to be had!

OK, so the Holy Spirit and Fire are connected, and the road to them both is surrender.

I’m going to leave this BLOG right here – it’s getting big!

God is amazing!
