What if we Christians were dropped on earth – Year 0000 AD?

I was thinking, what if we (the body of Christian believers) were dropped on planet earth (Jerusalem) soon after Jesus ascended.  You know, after he had told the disciples “go, get this show on the road!”  Of course after being filled with the Holy Ghost right!

What would we see?  I was thinking that it would be likely we’d see hordes of us wandering around wondering where all the facilities are for our church life?

Like . . . “I cant survive without a Christian book shop, oh where is the child care center,  where is the youth group, why is the coffee so bad, why do I have to walk so far to the parking lot, in fact where is the parking lot, these seats are very hard, where on earth are we going to eat after church, I really need visual aids in the service, is this music ok with Jesus, these people are a bit smelly.”  etc etc.

Because, everything that’s needed (or we think is needed) is to be supplied and built by someone else right?

What are we?  Just entitled consumers of religion?  Or are we called to be the bright eyed shakers of the planet, leaders, pioneers, shifters of atmospheres, futurists – the most “do-anything” phenomenal people that are currently walking the earth!

I think God is wanting our mindsets changed – church, and the concept of being a believer today has been honed more by our culture than by being centrally renewed, crafted, motivated and led by The Holy Spirit.

Their lies the “old wineskins!”

 

Mark 2:22 New Living Translation (NLT)

²² “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskins, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins.”

 

Do we really want the new wine?

If we do – let’s get God to help us identify and blow up our sacred cows, our stagnant religious positioning, our dried up unyielding old wineskins.

 

As Dallas’ Bishop says – get ready, get ready, get ready!

Can I get an AMEN to this!!
