Enter Man on Donkey: the revolution we want, or a revolution we need?

OK, so man enters city on donkey, fulfilling Zechariah’s prophecy, of the coming King, the Messiah.  The disciples didn’t put that two and two together.

The city welcomed the King, into the city of the King.  The city of David.

What made the city cry Hosanna (“save” or “help”).

revolution

What kind of revolution did they want from Him?

Liberation from the Gentile oppressors – that’s what!  Done like David did it, armed, mounted and lots of slaughter.

But what did He bring?

He brought Salvation (for later) and liberation of the soul (for the now), circumcision of the heart, a whole new era of Grace and the heralding in of the Holy Spirit – the “Promise” He spoke of and said, if He didn’t ascend The Promise would not come.

He didn’t give a toss about the politics going on – His plan transcended all that and more.  He was after man’s heart and spirit.

Visually it must have looked weird – The King on a donkey’s foal, not even fully grown.  Not on some great white stallion.

The religious leaders looked on and schemed – they hated this guy Jesus – because He came to mess up everything that was “religious” at the time.

He brings the revolution we need not the one we think we want.

Let Him steer your donkey – watch what happens!

God is amazing!!!
