The Godly Household Series Begins . . . Leave and Cleave.

Right from the Genesis of planet earth, God designed how marriage and a household gets started.

Genesis 2:24    New Living Translation (NLT)

This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

A man and woman leave their Mum and Dad and become one  – “one?” – what does that really mean?

The Bible consistently describes us as being made up of “Body, Soul and Spirit” – so being one means being one in “Body” – the physical realm of your lives, “Soul” – the mind and the heart of your lives,  and “Spirit” – the very core of who you are and the core’s relationship with God.  A little oversimplified I know, but you get the idea.  Being “One” means all of you are both merged together.

Guarding each of these areas from anything that divides you, or distracts your loyalty to one another is imperative.  You have left being primarily a son and daughter, now primarily you are a married couple, just as you have left being single and are now a married couple.

To leave the old life(s) and to cleave or grab with both hands to the knew “oneness” is paramount.

Guarding your primary (there’s that word again!) loyalty (body, soul, and spirit)to one another will create the environment for everything else to follow, follow strongly and follow well.

Guard it and guard it well!

God designed it that way – after all He is Amazing!
