Don’t you just love . . .

When I was just beginning to encounter God in the early years, I was leaving a service through the door with everyone else  – there was an phenomenal sense of joy bustling all around me – the minister’s assistant grabbed my hand, looked me square in the eyes with his clear, iron blue, filled with life, eyes and said “don’t you just LOVE God?”

I didn’t.

Not really.  I knew of Him.  I knew Him to be full of awe and to be revered.  I knew He knew me (somewhat a problem at that point), but . . . no, I didn’t love Him – not for a while.

C.S. Lewis said . . .

When I have learned to love God better than my earthly dearest, I shall love my earthly dearest better than I do now.

It took me a while to get started on this – I’m not through working on it either.

I think when someone says “get over yourself” this must be what it means – right?

Man, the more I love God, the more everything changes.  EVERYTHING!
