Getting Happy

Last week I was pretty strong in speaking out against sadness.

I really wanted to aim at us Christians, and I do understand we are all on a journey with God.

So . . . I am writing this Blog to shine God’s light into the sad haze and blow it away.

To be happy we really need to be doing just a few things

Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)

You will show me the path of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

OK this Psalm is fabulously simple.

What are we meant to be doing?

  1. Follow the path that God is showing us all.  How?  Read the word and it becomes really clear – clear obstacles out of the way that are within your personal power to do so – then trust God with the rest.
  2. Get in His Presence!  How? Go into your quite place – if you don’t have one, make one.  Turn your face to God and say . . . “God, I love you – and wait a while”  His Presence will arrive – He is amazing.  Don’t bow your head and just rattle off prayers about Aunt Myrtle’s bunion!  For get that for now – just wait, then wait a little more.  Wow will arrive.  Let Him embrace you.  Joy will come.  Joy in it’s fullness.  You’ll start to hear His voice like never before.  The path mentioned above gets clearer.
  3. Once you learn to wait and let His Presence arrive, you will know you are sitting or standing at His right hand.  How?  You just do.  And in that place, your spirit will start to get saturated with immovable, deep seated  pleasure and joy.

From that point, no matter what you face, this “joy” stuff wont go away.  Boldness is yours, joy is yours, purpose is easy to grasp.

BAM!  Amazing!

So in the light of that – what on earth do we want to have anything to do with being sad?

But if for some reason you do the above, and you’re still sad – you need to come and see me, or come to our church.  We’ll find the root of the sadness and pull it out – I mean that.  Forever!

See You In Church Church!
